Manchester United Agree Terms for Sweden Winger Monica Jusu Bah
Manchester United have agreed terms to sign Sweden winger Monica Jusu Bah from BK Hacken, with the deal expected to be completed before the Women's Super League transfer deadline next Thursday BBC Sport.
Bah is 23 years old and has spent her entire career in Sweden. She broke through at Umeå before moving to Gothenburg club BK Hacken in the summer of 2023 BK Hacken. In 107 appearances for Hacken, she has scored 32 goals and recorded 15 assists BK Hacken.
Despite standing just 160 cm tall, Bah plays as a forward and wears the number 11 shirt. She has earned 11 caps for Sweden and played in all six of their Women's World Cup qualifying matches in 2025 BBC Sport.
The transfer fee has not been disclosed. Bah signed a contract extension with BK Hacken in September 2025, tying her to the Swedish club until 2028 — which means United will have to pay a fee to prise her away BBC Sport. The Athletic first reported United's interest, with Swedish outlets Fotbollskanalen, Aftonbladet and TT Sport confirming the bid Fotbollskanalen Aftonbladet.
One of the highlights of Bah's time at Hacken came in May, when she helped the club win the inaugural Women's Europa Cup — a new continental competition that gave smaller European leagues a stage of their own BBC Sport.
For United, Bah is the third signing of the current window. Manager Marc Skinner has already brought in defender Andrea Medina from Atlético Madrid and goalkeeper Janina Leitzig from Leicester City BBC Sport. The club also hopes to add at least one more player before the deadline.
For a player who has never kicked a ball outside Swedish football, the step up to the WSL — England's top women's division — is a significant one. But a winger with 32 goals and 15 assists in 107 matches, plus a continental trophy on her CV, brings a clear attacking threat. United fans will hope she can replicate that form on a bigger stage.
