The official trailer for Winter of the Crow is out, and Cohen Media Group has locked in a nationwide US theatrical release for 9 October 2026. The news lands via an exclusive Variety report published on 3 September.

Lesley Manville leads the cast as Joan Andrews, a British psychiatry professor who arrives in Warsaw in December 1981 as a guest lecturer. The timing could hardly be worse — Poland is under martial law, and the Cold War is at one of its deepest freezes. The film is directed by Kasia Adamik and inspired by Nobel Prize-winning author Olga Tokarczuk's Professor Andrews Goes to Warsaw.

Joining Manville on screen are Tom Burke, Andrzej Konopka, Sascha Ley, and Zofia Wichłacz. Behind the camera, the production was shepherded by a producing team of Olga Chajdas, Stanisław Dziedzic, Katarzyna Ozga, Nicolas Steil, and Samantha Taylor, with veteran film-maker Agnieszka Holland — whose own credits include Europa Europa and the political miniseries Burning Bush — serving as executive producer.

The financing tells its own story about European co-production at work. The Polish Film Institute, Film Fund Luxembourg, the UK Global Screen Fund, and Silesia Film all co-financed the picture, a structure that lets multiple national funding bodies share risk while each supports films with ties to its own industry.

Cohen Media Group's path to US distribution began with a deal struck last November, when the specialty distributor acquired American rights from HanWay Films, the London-based sales agent handling worldwide sales (Variety). HanWay first launched international sales on the project in January 2024.

Festival audiences have already had a look. Winter of the Crow premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and then closed the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it screened in the Closer section. It carries a runtime of 1 hour and 52 minutes.

For US audiences, the 9 October slot places the film squarely in the autumn corridor — the season when distributors of art-house and international titles chase adult viewers returning to cinemas after the summer blockbuster season. Cohen Media Group, which specialises in bringing foreign-language and independent films to American screens, will hope the festival pedigree and Manville's drawing power translate into a strong platform run before wider expansion.

The trailer offers the first mainstream glimpse for stateside viewers of a film that has been building momentum on the festival circuit for nearly a year. Now it gets its shot at the box office.
