Chelsea lost 8-2 to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League last season. They finished 10th in the Premier League. Alongside those sales, the club's retained list confirmed four players would leave at the end of their contracts, and the summer departures page lists Tosin Adarabioyo, Chris Atherton, Jeremiah Berkeley-Agyepong and Trevoh Chalobah among those moving on.
Some players backed the new direction with new deals. Moises Caicedo, Reece James and Joao Pedro all renewed their contracts.
