Filmax Takes 'The Wedding Hustlers' to Buyers at TIFF

Filmax is bringing Mar Olid's romantic comedy 'The Wedding Hustlers' to international buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The Spanish company will show a first promo, a short preview cut for distributors shopping for films, at the festival ahead of a planned cinema release in Spain in 2027, according to Variety. The film's Spanish title is 'Si te he visto no me acuerdo'.
The story starts with a blank memory. Silvia Alonso plays Bea, who wakes up in hospital with amnesia and learns she is engaged to a multimillionaire. Then her past walks in.
Álex González plays the wealthy fiancé, Julen, while Maxi Iglesias plays Edu, a man who tells Bea she is actually a con artist specialising in rich men. The set-up leaves Bea caught between a luxury wedding and a very different version of her own life.
Olid directs from a screenplay by Èric Navarro, Pol Cortecans and Natalia Durán. Olid previously directed 'From Good to the Hood' and 'A Family Knight-Mare' after a career in Spanish television, according to Variety.
Behind the camera, the film is produced by Filmax with Bixagu Entertainment and Pompón AIE. It has the participation of Movistar Plus+, broadcaster RTVE and Spain's ICAA film institute, and Filmax will release it in cinemas in Spain. The shoot took place in Donostia, in northern Spain.
International sales means selling a film's distribution rights country by country. Filmax's head of international, Ivan Diaz, told Variety he sees strong potential for remake sales, where local producers buy the right to make their own version of the story.
Filmax has recent form there. 'The Invite' is Olivia Wilde's remake of Cesc Gay's Filmax-produced comedy 'The People Upstairs'. The new film is also listed in Spain's Spanish Kaleidoscope Fall 2026 catalogue as a comedy romance from a female film-maker, according to the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
What makes this stand out for festival watchers is the timing. Buyers at Toronto will see only an early promo, well before the Spanish launch in 2027, when deals struck now will decide where else the comedy reaches screens.
