Tottenham Hotspur have played four Premier League games this season. They have scored in none of them.

The latest blank came on 12 September 2026, a 0-0 draw with Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The result stretched a winless start to the new league campaign. ESPN

The numbers are stark. Tottenham's goalless run in the league now stands at 407 minutes. They have failed to score in their opening four league games for the first time in the club's history across all four tiers, and in four successive Premier League matches for the first time since September 2006. It was also the first goalless draw in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 140 games. Spurs waited until the 46th minute for their first shot on target, from £85m summer signing Mateus Fernandes. New arrivals Omar Marmoush and Savio, both signed from Manchester City, started in attacking positions, with Dominic Solanke handed his first league start of the campaign.

Everton could have won it. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Brennan Johnson had the visitors' two best chances, but neither could find the net.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi apologised to the home crowd after the final whistle. "I'm sorry to the fans. We are sorry to the fans," he said. BBC Sport

There was no place in De Zerbi's Premier League squad, the registered list of players eligible for league matches, for Richarlison. The 29-year-old Brazil striker was left out after a proposed deadline-day return to Everton collapsed.

The frustration is sharper because Tottenham spent in excess of £300m in the summer transfer window. Last season ended with a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day to avoid relegation, and the struggles run deeper than this autumn. Tottenham had not won a Premier League game in 2026 as of late February, with only two home league wins all that season.

For fans, this is the strange ache of football. Ninety minutes shared with thousands of others, waiting for one goal to lift the whole building, and going home still waiting.
