Seth Rogen jokes about age as Toronto honours Mirren, Cruz and Huppert
Seth Rogen said it was “ominous” to collect a career achievement honour at age 44 as the Toronto International Film Festival celebrated him alongside Helen Mirren, Penélope Cruz and Isabelle Huppert on Sunday night.
The eighth annual TIFF Tribute Awards took place on 13 September at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, during the festival, with the winners list reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Rogen, the Canadian actor, writer, director and producer, received the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award. The prize is named for the late Canadian director and recognises a Canadian film figure whose career has made a global impact.
Mirren received the Groundbreaker Award. The Oscar winner brought the thriller A Talent For Murder to Toronto for its world premiere, according to the same report.
Cruz accepted a Special Tribute Award on the night. Huppert and Rosalind Eleazar each received a Performer Award, while South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong picked up the Ebert Director Award.
Huppert stars in Marc Fitoussi’s All About Corrine, which had its North American premiere in Toronto on Monday. Eleazar leads Misty Green, the A24 drama directed by Chris Rock.
The Tribute Awards are TIFF’s gala honour for actors and filmmakers, held alongside its September film programme where new titles play for audiences, buyers and press.
TIFF had named Rogen, Mirren, Fan Bingbing, producer Adam Pietkiewicz and director Bassam Tariq as its final 2026 honourees, joining the previously announced Cruz, Lee, Eleazar, Siân Heder and Huppert, according to TIFF.
