Busan Festival Reveals Fan Events With Hyun Bin, Lee Min-ho, Huppert
Hyun Bin, Lee Min-ho and Isabelle Huppert will headline open fan sessions at the 31st Busan International Film Festival.
The festival has unveiled the lineup and schedule for three audience-facing programmes — Open Talk, Outdoor Stage Greeting and Talk-to-Talk — according to details reported by Variety. The sessions are built around on-stage conversations and red-carpet style greetings rather than formal premieres.
The talks will be held at two venues in Busan. They are the Busan Cinema Center Roof Theater and the HANMAC Smooooth Lounge, the festival said.
Open Talk opens on Oct. 7 with “Possible Love.” Director Lee Chang-dong will appear with cast members Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong. Expect crowds.
The same strand closes on Oct. 13 with Isabelle Huppert. The French actor will discuss “All About Corinne” with director Marc Fitoussi. Open Talk events are long-form conversations, with the makers taking questions about the work.
The Outdoor Stage Greeting strand runs Oct. 7 through Oct. 11. It gives festivalgoers a brief, up-close welcome from casts and crews, usually before or around screenings.
Oct. 7 is the busiest day announced so far. Director Woo Min-ho will greet fans with Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung and Woo Do-hwan for “Made In Korea” Season 2, a series. The same day brings director Hur Jin-ho with Yoo Hai-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho for “The Assassin(s).”
On Oct. 10, the outdoor stage turns to “The Remarried Empress.” Actors Shin Mina, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jongsuk and Lee Seyoung are listed for the greeting.
For fans, this means a clear place to see stars without a premiere ticket. The outdoor greetings are short and high-energy. The Open Talks are slower, built for listening.
The wider 31st edition is already taking shape. The opening film is ‘Day and Night to Each Other’, as reported by Chosun. That earlier report also named Michelle Yeoh among the expected attendees. The festival will include a 14-title competition section, according to Deadline.
