Crazy Taxi: World Tour PC footage reveals Pickup Race and Cops & Cabbies
Six taxis hunt the same fares. First to five wins.
That is Pickup Race, one of two multiplayer modes shown in new PC footage of Crazy Taxi: World Tour published on 14 September 2026. The video, captured from the game's closed network test, a limited online trial used to check servers and matchmaking, runs through each mode twice with different maps and rules. VGC
The footage opens on Germany, a new map for the series. Six players race to be first to pick up and drop off five specific passengers. It is the classic Crazy Taxi loop, collect, drive fast, drop off, now played against five rivals in the same streets.
The second Pickup Race moves to the West Coast map, the San Francisco-themed area from the original Crazy Taxi. This time spike strips are switched on. Hit one and your cab stops dead, then sits frozen for a short time while rivals speed past.
Then comes Cops & Cabbies. Both examples in the footage use the Germany map, the only map offered for that mode in the test. Played as the cabbies, a team of four must deliver a set number of passengers before the timer runs out.
Played from the other side, two players act as cops. They stop four rival cabbies by ramming them, which sends a hit taxi to a cell in the middle of the map where it waits until released.
The video was recorded on PC with all graphical settings on maximum. Sound is quiet by design. Music was turned off to avoid YouTube copyright strikes, although the test itself includes licensed tracks from the first game, including The Offspring and Bad Religion.
Sega has confirmed the test covers two multiplayer modes, Pickup Race and Cops 'N' Cabbies. Sega The multiplayer was first shown at Gamescom in August, with rival cabbies competing for fares in a shared city. Player One
The closed network test takes place in September, with applications having opened in July. Crazy Taxi: World Tour has a planned release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC. The full multiplayer footage is available on the VGC YouTube channel.
The 'World Tour' name was chosen to reflect visits to countries and locations around the world. The project began life as a reboot described in a recruitment video as a massively multiplayer driving game.
What makes this stand out is the structure. The fares are shared, the streets are shared, and the police are players too. For fans, this means the old race against the clock now includes a race against each other.
