Windsor Farm Shop tells customers it is open during Datchet Road works
Windsor Farm Shop is open as usual despite roadworks outside.
The shop on Datchet Road in Old Windsor, Berkshire, issued a newsletter alerting customers to disruption near the store. The update was reported on 14 September 2026, according to Hello! Magazine. Roadworks do not mean closure.
The newsletter said roadworks are taking place on Datchet Road and some signage may indicate the road is closed. The warning focuses on Datchet Road itself, the road where the shop stands, so drivers may see signs suggesting the route is shut on the approach. The shop added: "We apologise for the short notice."
It stressed that access to the shop is still available. The shop and Café remain open and operating as usual during the works. Customers can continue to visit as normal, with no change to opening announced. The message is brief and practical.
The shop was opened by Prince Philip in 2001. That opening date gives it more than two decades of trade from the same site on Datchet Road. It has sold local and British produce ever since.
It sources products from British speciality producers, local artisans and Windsor Farms, according to Windsor Farm Shop. The emphasis is on home-grown stock alongside small suppliers. The butchery sells traditionally reared beef, pork and seasonal game from Windsor Farms. Lamb is sourced from Bagshot Park, and sausages are crafted on-site using the shop's own recipes.
Bread comes in daily from three bakers. Deliveries arrive from The Jolly Baker in Ashford, Seven Seeded in Hertfordshire and Jungs in Buckinghamshire. Fresh fish is also a weekly fixture, sold every Thursday between 11am and 2pm by Simon and Albert. The Café sits adjacent to the shop and forms part of the same visit for shoppers who want to eat in.
The shop has handled sudden attention before. In March 2024 staff described a "manic" week after overwhelming interest amid online 'missing Kate' conspiracies, according to the Slough Observer. That rush is background here. This latest alert is about traffic, not crowds.
