Charles Spencer Says Diana Would Have Approved His Memoir Swan Song

Charles Spencer says his sister would have approved of every word in his new book about her.

The book is Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. It is scheduled for publication on September 22, 2026. Spencer is the brother of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Spencer described the book as "a brother's simple tribute to an extraordinary sister," according to Town & Country. He said the princess would have approved of the account. He added, "As with my eulogy, I want to speak on Diana's behalf and do so in an openly positive way."

He said he wrote it now because the 30th anniversary of Diana's death, coming next year, brought a wave of interview requests. He preferred to put his own account on record. The book tells the story of Diana's life and death from her brother's perspective, according to The Telegraph.

It is his first book specifically about Diana. Spencer has written ten books in all, and he called this one the most personal.

Swan Song runs 384 pages, according to Bertelsmann. Penguin Michael Joseph, an imprint of Penguin Random House UK, will publish the English edition. Penguin Press also announced it will publish Spencer's account of his sister Diana, Princess of Wales.

Spencer recorded the audiobook version over three days. He shared a photo on Instagram of himself holding a printed hardcover copy.

Town & Country included Swan Song: Diana, My Sister in its list of 67 Must Read Books of Fall 2026.
