Lil Wayne says he is done with NFL season after Packers collapse against Vikings

Lil Wayne says he is out on the NFL for the 2026 season after the Green Bay Packers lost 39-22 to the Minnesota Vikings.

Posting on X, the rapper criticised the officiating in the Minnesota game. Green Bay led 22-10 before giving up 29 unanswered points to finish the game, according to Billboard.

He did not hold back. In one post he wrote, “Refs in Minnesota game pure p—y.” In another, posted from his @LilTunechi account, he wrote: “Fake af I can't respect the game when the refs can't ref the game. I'm out on the NFL this year.”

He closed that second message on a softer note. He added: “Wish for it to be an amazing season for all.”

The anger was not his alone. Packers supporters also criticised a string of fourth-quarter flags after Green Bay’s lead slipped, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Head coach Matt LaFleur was seen exchanging words with officials during the defeat. At one stage the Packers still led 22-17 before the Vikings pulled away.

One call drew particular attention. Safety Xavier McKinney was whistled for a defensive penalty that frustrated the travelling support and helped shift momentum late in the game.

For fans, this means a sharp turn from collaborator to critic. Only last month Lil Wayne teamed with Green Bay to unveil the club’s Rivalries uniform for the 2026 season. He made a track titled “Special Ops” for the uniform advertisement, with the full version released on streaming services on Aug. 28.

Green Bay now head east. The Packers play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 20.

Lil Wayne, who hosts a weekly podcast titled The Joint Venture with Craig Carton, has not said more about his vow to skip the rest of the season.
