The Traitors wins third straight Reality Competition Emmy
The Traitors has won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program for the third year in a row.
The Peacock series took the prize at the 78th Emmy Awards in 2026, beating Dancing with the Stars, RuPaul's Drag Race, Survivor and Top Chef, Deadline reported. The category honours the best competitive reality series of the year.
It was a big night for the show. The victory was its seventh Emmy win of 2026 and lifted its lifetime total to 15 wins from 17 nominations, according to that report.
Host Alan Cumming accepted the award. Cumming, who hosts the series for Peacock, also won the 2026 Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.
In his speech, Cumming thanked the loved ones who supported the cast during filming in the Scottish Highlands. He also thanked his dog Lala by name.
He described the audience for the show as diverse. It was beautiful, he said, that a show about treachery and betrayal brings people together.
He closed with a direct appeal. Cumming urged Americans to register to vote ahead of the midterm elections, noting that the day after the ceremony was voter registration day.
The craft wins added up. Alongside the top prize, The Traitors won 2026 Emmys for production design, cinematography, picture editing and costumes. Ben Archard also won for Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program for directing the series.
The show comes from Studio Lambert and is based on the Dutch format De Verraders. NBCUniversal bills it as a murder mystery reality competition series, meaning contestants work together on missions while hidden traitors plot eliminations.
Season 4 was filmed in Scotland. It opened on Peacock on 8 January with a three-episode premiere event. Rob Rausch won the Season 4 finale prize after fooling fellow finalist Maura Higgins.
The win extends a run. The Traitors also won the Reality Competition Program prize at the 77th Emmy Awards and first won the category in 2024.
For fans, this means more Traitors on the way. NBCUniversal has announced an NBC version titled The Traitors: New Blood, NBCUniversal said, to bring the format to broadcast viewers alongside the Peacock original.
