Kia has revealed the PV7, the second van in its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, at IAA Transportation in Germany.

The PV7 follows the PV5 people mover, which went on sale in 2025. Kia describes it as a larger member of the same all-electric PBV family, built to carry more people or goods. It will come in passenger and cargo versions The Verge.

The van is about 2 feet longer than the PV5. Reported length is between 5270mm and 5900mm, depending on the wheelbase version, the distance between the front and rear axles. It uses Kia's dedicated PBV base, called E-GMP.S, with a flat floor that keeps the interior open for different seating or storage layouts.

In cargo form, payload is rated up to 1200kg, with up to 8.0 cubic metres of load space Professional Van.

On power, Kia will offer a 71.5kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack or a larger 96.2kWh pack, where kWh describes battery capacity. Kia claims 460 km (285.8 miles) of WLTP range, the common European test figure, for the Cargo Long-Range version. The van uses an 800-volt electrical system, which allows higher-power charging, and Kia says a 350kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes.

For work sites, the PV7 has vehicle-to-load outlets, sockets that let the van supply power to outside tools and equipment. The screens run Pleos Connect OS, based on Android Automotive, Google's car software, with natural-language voice control through Gleo AI.

Kia plans to launch the PV7 in Europe and Korea in the second half of 2027. Additional markets, derivatives and conversion models will follow after that first rollout, according to the company Kia Newsroom.

The broader context for operators is choice around size and daily routes. Length options trade easier movement in tight streets against more volume, while the flat floor leaves room for racks, seats, or conversion work. Two battery sizes and 800-volt charging let short city loops use the smaller pack and longer runs use the larger pack, with faster top-ups during loading stops, much like topping up a phone during a short break.

In my view, the items worth watching are software and conversions. Android Automotive control with voice input will depend on links to fleet management tools, driver profiles, and steady software updates. The promise of later derivatives and conversions will test how open the E-GMP.S connections really are for outside van builders, since vans depend on that support network.

The broader context for depots is a change in charging habits. A 10-80% charge in under 25 minutes on high-power DC makes daytime top-ups usable alongside overnight charging. Vehicle-to-load removes the need for a separate generator for some jobs. Both cut extra gear carried on board, which helps protect usable payload.

In the longer term, if Kia delivers the stated space and charging performance, operators get a larger option next to the PV5 without learning a new system. That continuity is the point.
