Gary Oldman says Slow Horses Season 6 gets personal for Jackson Lamb

Jackson Lamb has more fire under him in Slow Horses Season 6. Star Gary Oldman told Deadline the new run is more personal for his Slough House chief because his horses are being targeted. The sixth season premieres globally on Apple TV on September 16, according to Apple TV.

Oldman spoke in The Deadline Studio at TIFF 2026 at the Bisha Hotel in Toronto. The team had just held a first screening on Friday September 11 at TIFF Lightbox. Joining Oldman on the panel were director Adam Randall, Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Ruth Bradley.

For newcomers, Slow Horses follows disgraced MI5 agents — Britain's domestic intelligence service — parked in Slough House under Lamb. Season 6 puts that crew on the run. Jack Lowden plays River Cartwright, with Oldman as Lamb, while Kristin Scott Thomas plays Diana Taverner, now First Desk, the service's top job.

Hugo Weaving returns as Frank Harkness, described as a ruthless mercenary and River's father. That family link drives much of the new tension. Season 6 was directed by Randall and adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe.

Oldman also serves as star and executive producer, meaning he helps steer the show behind the camera as well as in front of it. Apple TV debuted a trailer for the season in August ahead of hosting the world premiere at TIFF.

Oldman also addressed rumours around co-star Lowden and James Bond during his TIFF interview. Lowden, an Emmy Award nominee, has been mentioned in fan talk for the 007 role. Oldman was asked about it in the studio session.

For fans, this means a shift in temperature. Lamb is famous for shrugging things off. This time it is his people in danger.
