NCIS: New York drops first trailer ahead of 6 October premiere
Sam Hanna is going back to New York.
CBS has released the first trailer for NCIS: New York, its new drama starring LL Cool J as Special Agent Sam Hanna, ahead of its premiere on 6 October, according to Deadline. The footage arrived about three weeks out from launch, giving viewers an extended first look at the new team.
The series will open on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT, according to Paramount Press Express. That is the Eastern and Pacific time zones. It places the debut squarely in prime time.
The pilot, meaning the first episode, starts with a return. Sam comes back to New York City after years of special assignments and covert operations. He then asks Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Robyn Wells for permission to investigate the death of his friend, Navy reservist Jack Halloway.
It is a personal case from the start. Sam is not simply reporting for duty. He is seeking approval to look into the loss of someone he knew.
Wells is played by Jennifer Beals. She is the senior supervisor Sam must convince, and she anchors the new office around him.
The wider squad is new. Scott Caan plays Nick Schaeffer. Shane Harper plays Wyatt Sellers. Jacqueline Byers plays Addison “Addy” Ross. Devin Druid plays Sean Sullivan, a hacker-turned-computer specialist who brings the technical skills.
LL Cool J reprises his long-running role as Sam Hanna for the new series. Viewers have seen the character before elsewhere in the NCIS world. Here he is the familiar centre of a fresh ensemble.
Behind the camera, Byron Belasco serves as showrunner, the writer-producer in day-to-day charge of a series, and executive producer. He developed NCIS: New York alongside R. Scott Gemmill.
CBS posted the footage to YouTube as the ‘NCIS: New York: Full Series Premiere Trailer’, according to CBS. LL Cool J has also given a preview interview discussing crossover potential for the series, raising the possibility of links with other shows in the franchise.
For fans, this means a favourite character in a new city. Sam has a new boss, a new squad and a case with a direct connection to his past. The answer on how that team works together arrives on 6 October.
