Sense and Sensibility premieres in London ahead of autumn cinema release
London got the first look. The new film version of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility held its world premiere on September 15 at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London, Deadline reported.
Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles led the arrivals. They play the Dashwood sisters at the centre of the story, Elinor and Marianne, with Edgar-Jones as the elder sister. George MacKay, who plays Edward Ferrars, also attended the Leicester Square premiere.
The film was directed by Georgia Oakley from a script by Diana Reid, adapted from Austen's 1811 novel. That simply means Reid wrote the screen version of the book for the screen. It was produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title alongside India Flint of November Pictures and Jo Wallett of Kiddo Films, according to the same report.
The wider cast includes Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby and Herbert Nordrum as Colonel Brandon. Fiona Shaw is also billed in the starring cast, Focus Features lists. The studio describes the film as a romance and drama.
The calendar is now set for cinemas. ODEON UK lists the film for release on September 25 with a runtime of 2h 11m, ODEON. The United States cinema release follows on October 16.
For fans planning a trip to the cinema, there is more to come on the promotional tour. Edgar-Jones and Creed-Miles were also due to head to Sydney around the film's launch, Variety Australia reported on September 9.
