Aitor Throup returns with Ultra Veil show in London

Aitor Throup is back with his first new body of work in a decade.

The Argentinian-British artist and designer will open Ultra Veil, an immersive exhibition, at Ambika P3 in London from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8, according to details shared with WWD. The show is organised with the Westminster Menswear Archive, the University of Westminster's collection of British menswear, and Fred Perry, the British clothing brand.

It will bring together more than 100 sculptural prototypes and drawings. Prototypes here mean working models for garments and objects, not finished clothes for sale. Expect process on display.

The exhibition is not a one-off. It lays the conceptual groundwork for Throup's ready-to-wear rollout next year under his new venture, Aitor Ultra.

Aitor Ultra is described on the designer's site as an immersive multi-disciplinary world. In plain terms, it is the umbrella for his art, design and clothing work. The clothing line is scheduled for 2027.

That line will work in three tiers. Tier Art, the top tier, consists of one-off sculptural pieces. Think unique objects made by hand.

Tier Zero sits below that. It consists of limited-edition, factory-made versions of Throup's core designs, his archetypes, released via drops rather than wholesale. Drops are short, limited releases sold direct to customers. Wholesale is selling to shops that then resell.

Tier One is the broader ready-to-wear line, the main seasonal clothing range. It will be shown to buyers next January in Paris ahead of a wider June release, WWD reported.
