Tiger Woods back on the range six months after Florida crash

Tiger Woods has picked up a club in public for the first time in six months.

Video shared on Instagram shows the 50-year-old hitting balls on the driving range — a practice area — at Liberty National in New Jersey. The footage appeared ahead of the Nexus Cup, his charity event to raise money for his TGR Foundation, according to the BBC.

Asked about his game at a clinic, Woods replied: "I can hit pretty much anything." He swung freely in the clip. It is his first recorded range session since a car crash in Florida in March.

The crash ended with Woods rolling his Land Rover and crawling out through the passenger door. He refused a urine test at the scene. Prosecutors in Martin County, Florida, later agreed a deal in which he did not contest a reckless driving charge.

Under that agreement he accepted a $1,000 (£742) fine and a five-year suspension of his driving licence. After the crash Woods said he was stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on his health.

It was his second arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. In 2017 he received a year's probation after pleading guilty to reckless driving when police found him slumped at the wheel near his home.

The video was posted by golf influencer Tisha Alyn, according to Marca. It does not signal a return to competition. Woods, a 15-time winner of the majors — the sport's four biggest annual championships — has not played competitively since 2024.

His body has taken heavy punishment. He survived a serious car crash in 2021 that left him with extensive leg injuries and has played only a limited schedule since, ruptured an Achilles tendon in March 2025 and had back surgery last October.

For fans, this means something small but visible. No tournament. No start date. Just a full swing, on a range, in front of people again.
