Cameras are rolling on “Guru,” a Bollywood psychological thriller starring John Abraham.

Principal photography — the main shoot — has commenced, Variety reported on 16 September 2026. The film is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. It puts Abraham back in thriller territory.

The story follows a man who realises his memory and reality are not the same thing. He starts to question what he sees around him. That split between remembering and believing drives the plot.

Abraham leads a cast that also includes Danish Pandor, Arif Zakaria and Kitu Gidwani, according to the same report. Dasgupta is known for the Netflix series “Bard of Blood” alongside the features “The Girl on the Train” and “Te3n.” He is also attached to the upcoming “Section 84 IPC.”

“Guru” is produced by Authum Entertainment, Shibasish Sarkar, JA Entertainment and Fusion Flicks. That line-up pairs Abraham’s own JA Entertainment with veteran producer Sarkar and two companies. No release date has been announced.

The project first surfaced as an untitled thriller. The Times of India reported on 11 September 2026 that the Abraham-Dasgupta collaboration was planning a London shooting schedule. The new announcement gives it a title and confirms the shoot is under way.

For fans, this means a name, a director and a premise to hold on to. A psychological thriller lives or dies on its lead’s sense of doubt. Here that job sits squarely with Abraham.
