Two Strangers to End Broadway Run in November After Year at Longacre

Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, November 29 at the Longacre Theatre.

The producers confirmed the closing date this week, ending a Broadway run that opened November 20, 2025. At the final curtain, the show will have played 21 previews and 428 regular performances, according to Deadline.

Previews, meaning full performances held before the official opening night, began November 1 at the Longacre. The count puts the musical just past the one-year mark on Broadway, with eight shows a week as the standard Broadway playing schedule.

The show is a two-person romantic musical comedy, as described by Playbill. It stars Sam Tutty as Dougal and Christiani Pitts as Robin. Both actors received Tony Award nominations for their performances.

The story follows an unlikely pair who spend three life-changing days together in New York City. It centers on finding common ground, love and connection across that short, crowded stretch.

The musical was written and composed by Jim Barne and Kit Buchan. Direction and choreography are by Tim Jackson.

On Broadway, the production received eight Tony Award nominations. The nominations included recognition for its two stars.

The Broadway closing will not end the road for the show. A First National Tour, meaning a traveling production that plays presenting houses across the country, is set to launch in Providence, R.I. The tour is expected to begin in fall 2027.

For fans, this means one last chance to catch the original Broadway pairing in New York this fall. The Longacre run continues through Thanksgiving weekend before the company packs up for the tour.
