Apple Releases First Trailer for Everest Drama Tenzing
Apple has released the first trailer for Tenzing, its drama about the 1953 British expedition that achieved the first successful ascent of Mount Everest, as reported by Deadline on 16 September. Deadline embedded the trailer for viewing in its article.
Newcomer Genden Phuntsok stars as Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay. Tom Hiddleston plays New Zealander Edmund Hillary, and Willem Dafoe plays John Hunt, the army colonel who led the mission.
The trailer leans into national pressure. Hunt tells the assembled group, "We've been trying to climb this mountain for 30 years" and "Britain is depending on us to get up first." The pressure is national.
Around the central trio, Thinley Lhamo plays Dawa, Tenzing's wife, while Caitriona Balfe plays Jill Henderson, the expedition secretary. Benjamin Hoetjes also appears alongside Phuntsok, Hiddleston and Dafoe, according to Apple TV Press.

Tenzing premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in the United States and is screening at Toronto in Canada. It will open the Zurich Film Festival on 24 September, headlining its 22nd edition, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Apple is giving the film a short cinema run before streaming. It opens in cinemas on 9 October 2026 and arrives on Apple TV on 16 October, a week later, according to Apple TV Press. Trailers and videos, including an Official Teaser, are available on the company's official Tenzing page.
Apple Original Films unveiled the trailer on 16 September and celebrated its Toronto premiere on 15 September. Both announcements were listed by Apple TV Press during a busy festival week for the film.
