ABC News has put a new boss in charge of This Week weeks out from the US midterm elections.

Jon Schlossberg is now executive producer of the Sunday public-affairs programme, meaning he runs the show day to day, from booking guests to setting the rundown. He has been with ABC News since 2018, according to Variety.

Schlossberg spent the past five years as senior producer for Prime with Linsey Davis, the network's nightly streaming programme. Before that he produced local news at ABC-owned stations in San Francisco and New Orleans.

He inherits a winner. This Week finished the 2025-2026 season as the most-watched Sunday public-affairs show for the fifth consecutive cycle, based on Nielsen ratings data. It averaged 2.726 million viewers for the cycle, ahead of CBS's Face the Nation on 2.634 million and NBC's Meet the Press on 2.588 million.

There is one split in the scoreboard. Meet the Press still leads the Sunday group among viewers aged 25 to 54, the age bracket advertisers follow most closely.

Viewers will see familiar faces at the desk. This Week uses a three-way rotation of moderators: George Stephanopoulos, Jonathan Karl and Martha Raddatz.

Schlossberg said the immediate job is election coverage. He told Variety the programme will focus on "the sprint to the midterm" ahead of the November elections.

For viewers, this means continuity plus a harder election turn. Same hosts, same Sunday slot, and a new producer steering the interviews and debates through the final weeks of the campaign.
