Grammy Camp to add Seattle as fifth city in summer 2027

Seattle will join Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville and New York as a Grammy Camp host city in summer 2027. Applications for all five 2027 camps are now open to high school students across the United States.

Grammy Camp is a national music industry programme for high school students who want a career in music. The camps are run by the Grammy Museum and offer hands-on training for teenagers interested in performing, writing, producing and other music roles, according to Billboard.

The addition takes the programme to five cities. Until now, the confirmed footprint for next summer covered four locations across the south, west and east coast. Seattle extends that reach to the Pacific north-west from 2027.

The 2027 schedule runs across June, July and August. Nashville runs from 6 to 12 June, followed by Miami from 21 to 25 June. Los Angeles runs from 11 to 17 July, Seattle runs from 26 to 30 July, and New York runs from 8 to 14 August.

Formats differ by city, although none include overnight stays. Seattle and Miami are five-day, non-residential immersive programmes. Nashville and New York are seven-day, non-residential immersive programmes, while Los Angeles is described as a seven-day, non-residential intensive. Non-residential means students attend sessions during the day and return home in the evening.

Students do not need to live in a host city to apply. The national call means a teenager in any state can seek a place at any of the five camps, subject to meeting the entry requirements for that location.

The Los Angeles camp also carries a further-study option. Students who successfully complete it can earn undergraduate credit, which can count towards a university degree, through a partnership with Inspire EDU. Transcripts for that credit are issued by Golden West College, a regionally accredited institution.

Whether that credit counts elsewhere depends on where the student goes next. Acceptance of the credit is at the discretion of the college or university the student attends. Additional accreditation information for camps outside Los Angeles will be announced later this year, Billboard reported.

What makes this stand out is the direct link between a school-holiday programme and college paperwork. A week of daytime sessions can end with contacts, studio experience and, in Los Angeles, a transcript a university admissions office will understand. For families planning next summer, the day-only structure and the spread of dates will matter as much as the music.
