A+E Backs Lifetime Korea Drama Oh! My Guard Starring Jung Yong-hwa

A+E Global Media is backing Oh! My Guard, a new Lifetime Korea drama starring Jung Yong-hwa and Hong Seung-hee.
The company is investing in the series and handling global distribution, meaning it sells the show to broadcasters and streamers outside Korea. Deadline reported the deal on 18 September 2026.
The series is due to launch next month on Lifetime Korea. That gives it a fast start, with international rollout to follow.
Deals are already in place in 83 countries. That figure counts licensing agreements, where local buyers pay for the right to show a series in their territory.
The buyers include Viu, the Asian streamer with a large K-drama audience. A+E, formerly known as A+E Networks, will also offer the show to more buyers at MIPCOM Cannes, the international television market where channels and platforms shop for new programmes.
The story centres on Um Tae-bong, a melodramatic television star hiding a devastating secret. After an accident, a woman comes to believe she is the heroine of his drama.
Behind the camera, the series is produced by Syn & Studio and People Story Company. It is written by Byun Sang-soon and directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Lee Seung-hoon.
Yoon previously directed Lovely Runner. That credit links the new show to a creative team with recent experience in romantic drama.
Jung plays the male lead. He is also a member of K-pop band CNBLUE.
Hong plays opposite him. Her earlier credits include Just Dance, Navillera and Move to Heaven.
For viewers outside Korea, this means a short wait. A local premiere first, then a wide international release through deals already signed.
