A third birthday for Princess Kate's nephew Inigo Middleton
Inigo Gabriel Middleton turned three on Monday, 21 September 2026.
He is the only child of James Middleton and his wife Alizée Thévenet. He was born at Basingstoke Hospital on 21 September 2023. James Middleton is the younger brother of Catherine, Princess of Wales, according to HELLO!.
The birth made the Princess an aunt for the sixth time, as People reported in December 2023. Inigo is doted on by the children of the Princess and of her sister Pippa Middleton. The cousins keep him well supplied with playmates.
The family has shared only small glimpses of him. The Princess of Wales lent some of her own children's old baby clothes for her nephew to wear. James Middleton also filmed an ordinary supermarket errand with his infant son in December 2023. The clip was brief and domestic.
Last September brought another glimpse. For Inigo's second birthday, James Middleton, posting under the handle jmidy, shared a rare photo with his wife and son. His message read: "Happy Birthday Inigo We love you as much as you love Mabel….and that is a lot", as posted on Instagram.
Another photo had earlier caught attention in April 2025. It showed Inigo in a £15 Fair Isle jumper from JoJo Maman Bébé, the British high-street brand for baby and children's clothes. The tractor motif drew comparisons with a similar jumper once worn by Prince George.
For fans, this means birthdays have become the moment to see Inigo grow up. There is no palace announcement and no formal portrait. There is just a family post, and it travels fast.
The third birthday arrives in the same week as a new royal book. Charles Spencer's upcoming book is titled "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister", as CNN reported on 17 September 2026. As of that date, publication was scheduled for the following week. The book tells the life and death of his sister Diana, Princess of Wales.
