Wrexham Owners Buy The Turf Pub by Stadium

Wrexham's celebrity owners have bought The Turf, the pub beside the team's home stadium, the club said.

The deal brings the pub, the club and the stadium under a single ownership. ABC News, citing the club's announcement, reported the purchase brings a familiar matchday stop inside the Wrexham operation.

The ownership group is fronted by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac. They bought the Welsh soccer club in 2021 and have run it since as both a team and a television story.

The history runs deeper than television. Wrexham AFC was founded inside the building in 1864. Back then the pub was called the Turf Hotel.

Club officials said the purchase folds The Turf into the club and stadium business. The idea is simple. One owner now controls all three.

There will still be a familiar face behind the bar. Landlord Wayne Jones will continue to run The Turf on a day-to-day basis, the club said.

No changes to the pub's routine were announced. No purchase price was disclosed.

What makes this stand out is how rare the setup is. Most clubs do not own the pub next door. In Wrexham, the place where the team was born, where fans meet and where the cameras linger, is now part of the club itself.
