RT Features Sets Cast for Ivan Fund's Sci-Fi Drama 'Bodies of Summer'
RT Features has set Lee Kang-sheng, Miranda de la Serna and Marcelo Subiotto to lead Bodies of Summer, the speculative sci-fi drama from Argentine director Ivan Fund, as announced on 21 September 2026 Variety.
The company shared a first look from the film exclusively with Variety, alongside the casting news Variety. Fund directs from a screenplay he wrote with Martín Felipe Castagnet, adapted from Castagnet's novel of the same name. It is the third feature collaboration for the pair after Dusk Stone and The Message.
Fund arrives with recent festival form. He won the Berlin Silver Bear Jury Prize for The Message, released in 2025. His earlier Dusk Stone bowed in the Venice Days section of the 2021 Venice Festival.
The new story is set in a future where consciousness can survive in digital limbo and return in a different body. The central figure is Rana, who comes back to life after 100 years as data. He wakes in a frail, inexpensive body and sets out to find his son.
The three leads span Taiwan and Argentina. Lee Kang-sheng is recognised for a three-decade collaboration with auteur Tsai Ming-liang. De la Serna starred opposite Leonardo Sbaraglia in Wandering Heart, while Subiotto's credits include Fund's The Message and RT Features' Glaxo.
The film is produced by RT Features in partnership with Rita Cine Variety. RT Features is led by producer Rodrigo Teixeira, who boarded the project from Fund, as reported in June Variety. The company was behind James Gray's Paper Tiger and Walter Salles' I'm Still Here.
What makes this stand out is the mix. A Berlin prize winner, a novel with a built-in world, and a cast drawn from different film cultures. For viewers, the hook is simple. A father returns after a century and has to find his child in a body that was never meant to last.
