YouTube UK backs new Creator Voices alliance for British creators

YouTube UK is backing Creator Voices, a new independent alliance of British creators set up to champion their interests.
The group is being unveiled at a YouTube Festival in London, according to Deadline. YouTube UK, led by Alison Lomax, is supporting the launch. Creator Voices itself will operate independently.
The founding line-up named so far includes Jordan Schwarzenberger, DamienTalksMoney, Jade Beason, TLDR News, Grace Andrews and Brandon B. Schwarzenberger joins as the rep for The Sidemen, the hugely followed collective of creators known for challenge videos, football content and business ventures.
So what will it do? Members plan to use their combined reach to push for institutional recognition and closer ties with traditional creative bodies. In plain terms, they want creator work to sit alongside TV, film and music in industry conversations.
That push has an economic argument behind it. A YouTube report signed by thousands of creators, including Amelia Dimoldenberg, found the platform’s creator ecosystem contributed more than £2B ($2.67B) to the UK economy in 2023. A newer Oxford Economics Impact Report put the figure at £2.8B, adding that it could support more than 60,000 equivalent jobs.
The report’s authors called for the job of content creator to receive government recognition, alongside better industry representation and easier access to finance. Those are practical asks. Recognition affects how work is classified. Representation affects who gets a seat in policy talks. Finance affects who can borrow to build a studio or hire staff.
What makes this stand out is the structure. This is creators organising as a bloc, not a platform speaking for them. For viewers, nothing changes on screen. Behind it, the people making the videos want a louder voice in the rooms where decisions are made.
