Prince Sverre Magnus starts university in Lisbon alongside Spain's Infanta Sofia

Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway has started university in Lisbon, less than a month after his grandfather's funeral.

The 20-year-old began his first day at Forward College in Lisbon, where he is reading for a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in Portugal, Hello! Magazine reported on 22 September.

He spoke briefly to Norwegian magazine Se og Hør on arrival. The atmosphere at the college "feels very relaxed", he said.

He will not be the only royal on campus. "They had Princess Sofia from Spain here, so it's not that strange," Prince Sverre Magnus said of his new classmates.

That is Infanta Sofia of Spain, aged 19. She also attends Forward College. She is the younger daughter of Spain's King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.

Forward College is a small private college with campuses in three European capitals. Prince Sverre Magnus will take his Business Management classes in Lisbon for the first year, then in Paris and Berlin.

The first-year course includes an introduction to economics, statistics and accounting. Fees are listed at £55,000 a year.

The start of term follows a difficult September for the Norwegian royal family. Prince Sverre Magnus attended the funeral of his grandfather, King Harald of Norway, earlier this month.

Two days after that funeral, Princess Astrid, the older sister of King Harald and great-aunt of Prince Sverre Magnus, died.

The Norwegian Royal Court had confirmed the university plan on 10 August. In its press release, 'Studiestart for Prinsessen og Prinsen', the Court stated that Prince Sverre Magnus will study at Forward College in Lisbon, Norwegian Royal Court.

What makes this stand out is the overlap. Two teenage royals from different monarchies, both adjusting to life away from home, have ended up in the same lecture halls. For fans checking in, it is a rare, ordinary glimpse: new city, new timetable, familiar first-day nerves.
