Zucker and Bassetti to take Mipcom stage after $8bn merger

Jeff Zucker and Marco Bassetti will share a stage at Mipcom in Cannes on Oct. 12 for their first major interview since Banijay and All3Media combined.
The session is set for the opening day of the four-day market, where broadcasters, streamers and producers buy and sell programmes and formats. It will form part of the Story to Scale conference track, according to Variety.
Zucker is chairman of Banijay Entertainment. Bassetti is chief executive of Banijay Entertainment and of its live events division, Banijay Live. All3Media chief executive Jane Turton serves as deputy chief executive of the enlarged group.
Banijay and All3Media completed their $8 billion merger in July, Variety reported. Zucker had acquired All3Media in 2024 through his RedBirdIMI investment vehicle. The new company is based in London.
The conversation will be moderated by Cynthia Littleton, co-editor in chief of Variety. Mipcom is the annual content market in Cannes where commissioners, meaning the executives who order shows, lock in deals and release plans for the year ahead.
Scale sits behind the deal. The combination brings together 170 production banners across 25 companies, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Zucker has said scale is key to the merger, in an interview with Deadline. He previously told Deadline the merger would create the biggest independent player internationally.
For viewers, this matters because ownership decides what gets made. A merged production organisation controls more studios, more writers' rooms and more crews of hundreds. That affects which series are renewed, which are cancelled and which stories are finished.
