Tom Hiddleston to get Zurich honour as Tenzing opens festival
Tom Hiddleston will receive the Zurich Film Festival's Golden Eye Award on opening night, ahead of the European premiere of his Mount Everest film Tenzing, according to Deadline.
The film will open the 22nd edition of the festival. The award presentation will take place just before the screening.
Hiddleston will attend that first European showing — meaning the film's first screening in Europe — alongside co-star Willem Dafoe and director Jennifer Peedom, according to Deadline. Hiddleston plays New Zealand climber Edmund Hillary. The story centres on the 1953 Mount Everest expedition and takes its title from mountain guide Tenzing Norgay.
Zurich runs from September 24 to October 4. Tenzing opens the festival on September 24, as previously reported by Screen Daily.
The festival lists Hiddleston as an Opening Night Guest on its own site. The same guest pages name Naomi Watts, John Turturro and Luna Wedler as Golden Eye honourees, according to the Zurich Film Festival. Julianne Moore, Olivia Colman and Jesse Eisenberg are among the other names expected for the 22nd edition, according to the festival.
