Paramount TV Studios to Develop Vampire Novel Coffin Moon for TV

A vampire hunt in the winter of 1975 is heading to television.
Paramount Television Studios is developing Keith Rosson's horror novel Coffin Moon as a TV series, with Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple's company Iron Ocean attached to produce, according to Deadline.
The project is coming through Iron Ocean's first-look deal with the studio, meaning the studio gets the first chance to take on ideas from the company. Writers Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue are attached to develop, adapt and showrun, meaning they will lead the writing and oversee day-to-day production. Rosson, the novel's author, will serve as a consulting producer.
The story is set in Oregon during winter 1975. It follows a veteran and his adopted niece as they hunt the vampire that killed their family, while that vampire hunts them. Rosson has said the book was inspired by Charles Portis's novel True Grit.
Harpster and Fitzerman-Blue created and ran the Netflix series Painkiller, about the birth of the opioid crisis. Rosson is the author of seven novels, including Crone, Fever House and The Devil by Name.
Coffin Moon is the latest team-up between Paramount Television Studios and Iron Ocean after the spy thriller The Ambler Warning. That project is based on Robert Ludlum's bestselling novel, with Biel set to star in and executive produce. It was the first project under Iron Ocean's first-look deal with the studio, according to TheWrap.
The Coffin Moon novel was published in the United States by Penguin Random House. The publisher lists the paperback edition at 320 pages and $19.00, with availability from 22 September 2026, according to Penguin Random House.
For viewers, this means a wait. The show is in development, the early work before any series is ordered. No network, cast or start date has been disclosed.
