Tom Cruise Brings Digger to London for World Premiere

Tom Cruise brought his new film Digger to London on September 22, 2026 for its world premiere.
The screening took place at Leicester Square Gardens, with Cruise on the carpet inside the central London venue Deadline. Warner Bros. UK had invited fans to apply for places in fan areas to watch the arrivals.
Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell, described as the world's most powerful man, on a mission to prove he is humanity's saviour before a disaster he unleashed destroys everything Deadline. The film has been described as a dark comedy Reuters and as a satire ScreenDaily.
It was directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, the four-time Oscar winner behind Birdman and The Revenant. He presented the project alongside Cruise to theatre owners in April.
Cruise is joined by Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons. Ahmed, Plemons and Hüller all attended the London premiere.
The screenplay is credited to Iñárritu, Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolás Giacobone and Sabina Berman, from a story by Berman, Iñárritu and Jez Butterworth. The film is produced by Iñárritu, Mary Parent and Cruise, and executive produced by Joshua Grode. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute worldwide.
Other guests on the carpet included Emma D'Arcy, Sophie Wilde, filmmaker J.J. Abrams and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki. The London event was billed as The Royal Film Performance, a charity screening in support of film and television workers.
Digger is set to open internationally beginning September 30, 2026, then in theatres and IMAX across North America — the United States and Canada — on October 2, 2026 Deadline. IMAX is the large-screen format with taller screens and louder sound.
The date has been fixed for months. In April, Deadline reported the film was unlikely to get a debut at a late-summer or autumn festival despite speculation around the October slot Deadline.
For fans, this means a short wait. The London bow closes the build-up. The release starts next week.
