Monster: Lizzie Borden Tops Netflix With 12.2M Views

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is No. 1 on Netflix.
The latest season of the true-crime anthology, in which each season dramatises a different real-life case, drew 12.2 million views in its first four days of streaming. The figures, based on Netflix data, were reported by Variety on 22 September 2026.
That opening puts the Borden season almost exactly level with its two immediate predecessors. Monster: The Ed Gein Story opened with 12.2 million views in 2025. Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story opened with 12.3 million views in 2024.
The gap to the season that started it all is wide. Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story premiered in 2022 with 196.2 million hours watched in four days, equivalent to 22.3 million views under Netflix's current counting method. That launch remains in a different league.
Dahmer's staying power has lasted. The 2022 season is now ranked as Netflix's No. 7 most popular English-language TV series of all time, a long-term chart based on total views. No later season has come close to that total in its opening days.
Taken together, the Monster franchise has reached nearly 170 million views across all seasons, according to the same report. The tally covers four seasons released between 2022 and 2026.
What makes this stand out is consistency. Three seasons in a row have now opened at around 12 million views. For viewers, that means each new story arrives to roughly the same large, returning audience, even as the names and cases change.
