Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl and Vince Staples will play a 25th anniversary benefit for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music on Oct. 17 at the Hollywood Palladium.

The show marks a quarter century for the Los Angeles music school. It was announced ahead of tickets going on sale, with organisers setting a fundraising target of $1.5 million to fund programming for the year, according to Rolling Stone.

Tickets go on sale on Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. PT. Sponsorship and VIP options will be offered alongside standard admission.

Comedian and podcaster Marc Maron is also billed to perform, according to Consequence.

The Conservatory was founded in 2001 by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Michael "Flea" Balzary, Keith "Tree" Barry and Peter Weiss. It operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the US tax status for charitable organisations.

Each week it provides music lessons to more than 900 students. Its scholarship programme supports more than 200 students with free lessons, instruments, supplies, ensemble classes and events.

The school first opened at Sunset Junction before moving in October 2016 to 4652 Hollywood Blvd. The building, redesigned by architect Barbara Bestor, houses 13 lesson studios, a recital space and a retail store, according to the school's website. It offers private lessons on orchestral and band instruments including voice, as well as ensemble classes.

For fans, this means a rare shared bill with a direct local link. The benefit is the school's main annual fundraiser, and proceeds keep lessons and scholarships running.
