WTFN merges Fred Media and Radar into Radar Studios

WTFN Group has folded two of its businesses into one and given it a new name.
The Australian company has merged Fred Media, its TV distribution arm — the team that sells its programmes to broadcasters and platforms around the world — with Radar, its digital division, to create Radar Studios, Deadline reported. The Radar Studios name replaces both the Fred Media and Radar brands.
It will get its first outing at MIPCOM Cannes in October. MIPCOM is the international market in Cannes, France, where producers and buyers meet to trade shows and formats.
Derek Dyson will lead the combined operation. He is WTFN’s chief commercial officer, overseeing digital, distribution, branded entertainment and talent.
Radar Studios brings three jobs under one roof. It runs a FAST and digital channels business — FAST channels are free to watch and paid for by adverts — alongside a sales arm for WTFN’s own shows and third-party programmes, and a content division that buys, funds, develops and makes originals.
There are two confirmed people moves. Jamie I, who joined Fred Media last year as APAC sales manager, becomes APAC Sales and Acquisitions Lead. Consultant Kate Llewellyn-Jones keeps her remit to find, create and fund content and partnerships, now focused on Radar Studios.
WTFN has also set up a new fund to invest in and buy high-quality programmes from outside producers for Radar Studios. No figure for the fund was disclosed.
The catalogue behind the new studio is largely factual. Fred Media sells about 2,200 hours of content, including Life Down Under, Bondi Vet and Real Emergency, Deadline reported in May. It has run a FAST channels business since 2024, while Radar manages more than 30 digital channels, as reported in 2025.
For buyers, this means one door to knock on. One team now handles streaming channels, programme sales and new commissions.
