McConaughey and Harrelson Move In Together in Apple TV Comedy Brothers

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are roommates on television now.
Their comedy Brothers debuted globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, according to Apple Apple. The season runs for eight 30-minute episodes. The two stars play fictionalised versions of themselves, named Matthew and Woody.
The hook is simple. The real-life best friends move in together at Matthew’s ranch outside Austin, Texas, and explore whether they might be biological relatives. The series calls itself a “based on a true rumour” comedy The Hollywood Reporter.
The “created by” credit goes to McConaughey and Harrelson with David West Read and Lee Eisenberg. Eisenberg took over late in production and serves as showrunner, meaning the writer in charge of day-to-day creative decisions Variety.
The house is full. Natalie Martinez plays Valentina, Matthew’s wife, with Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton and Noah Carganilla as their children Wyatt, Clara and River. Brittany Ishibashi plays Joy, Woody’s wife. Highdee Kuan and Oona Yaffe play their daughters Olive and Kai. Holland Taylor plays Mama Mac, Matthew’s mother.
Woody’s clan does not squeeze into the spare room. They travel in a souped-up bus called The Mothership. Matthew has other pressures. He is preparing a speech for a high school event honouring his late father while weighing a run for governor.
That campaign thread brings in Lisa Gilroy as Gwen, a campaign manager advising Matthew on a possible bid for governor. It gives the show its office politics away from the ranch.
Longtime viewers will catch the in-jokes. Matthew quotes his Lincoln car commercials while giving his son a pep talk. The True Detective theme plays when a character collects samples for a DNA test. Matthew lets his son River borrow the actual car from Dazed and Confused.
For fans, this means the comedy lives in recognition. The plot keeps circling their public histories, their catchphrases and the old question of whether the two friends could really be brothers.
