G-Eazy signs with Ty Dolla $ign's EZMNY and EMPIRE, sets JFK single

G-Eazy has left RCA Records after six albums and signed a joint partnership with Ty Dolla $ign's EZMNY Records and EMPIRE.
The agreement was reported by Billboard on 23 September. It pairs G-Eazy with the label run by Ty Dolla $ign and his partner Shawn Barron, working with EMPIRE, the independent company that acts as both a label and a distributor, the business that places music on streaming services and in shops.
The first test of that set-up arrives quickly. G-Eazy and Ty Dolla $ign will release the Nic Nac-produced single “JFK” featuring Ty Dolla $ign on 25 September.
The song did not stay secret for long. The two artists gave it a surprise first performance during Ty Dolla $ign’s tour stop at Madison Square Garden in New York City, playing it live before any formal announcement.
“JFK” is the second single from G-Eazy’s forthcoming album through EZMNY and EMPIRE. It follows “Pretty Girls,” which introduced the new chapter. A title and release date for the full album have not been confirmed.
EMPIRE’s chief operating officer Nima Etminan is among the executives named around the deal. EZMNY is Ty Dolla $ign’s own label venture, launched to release his music and sign other artists.
The partnership lands in the middle of a busy live schedule. G-Eazy has started “The Endless Summer Tour Part II” with Logic, a 23-city run organised for the United States that opened at Morton Amphitheater in Kansas City, Missouri.
Fans had already heard a hint of what was coming. EMPIRE said on 17 September that G-Eazy had previewed new music with Ty Dolla $ign during New York Fashion Week.
There is history behind the EZMNY name. Ty Dolla $ign previously set up EZMNY Records in a joint venture with Motown Records, announced on 2 May 2022, with singer Leon Thomas named as its first artist, according to uDiscover Music. That earlier venture provides context for the new link-up, which brings G-Eazy into the fold alongside EMPIRE.
For fans, this means a change in how G-Eazy’s music will reach them. After a long run with a major label, his next album will come through an artist-run label with independent distribution, starting with two singles and a co-headline tour already under way.
