Sting sails The Last Ship into Drury Lane for 16 shows only

Sting is back on a London stage this week, leading the cast of his own musical The Last Ship.

The show is playing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's West End, the city's main commercial theatre district. It runs from 22 September to 3 October 2026, according to the theatre's listing LW Theatres. That run is its West End debut.

Sting plays Jackie White, a shipyard foreman. He stars alongside Shaggy in a reimagined 2026 version of the show LW Theatres. The full company around them was confirmed in August Sting.com. The production was staged by Leo Warner WhatsOnStage.

The music and lyrics are by Sting, the 17-time Grammy Award winner. The story is set in Wallsend in the 1980s, in a shipbuilding community facing the loss of its yard. The London text uses a revised book by Barney Norris, building on earlier work by Lorne Campbell, John Logan and Brian Yorkey.

British audiences first saw the musical on a UK tour in 2018. Since then it has travelled widely. The Drury Lane dates are the closing chapter of a global tour that has visited Amsterdam, Brisbane and New York.

It will not be there long. The engagement is 16 performances only. Tickets are on sale for the London run.

Drury Lane is one of London's oldest theatre sites, with a theatre open there since 1663. The building now seats more than 2,000 people across four levels, which makes a short run a big logistical exercise. Sting talked about the show and the real-life story behind it on BBC's The One Show in August.

Away from theatre, Sting has also extended his STING 3.0 concert tour with extra North American dates for autumn 2026. On stage in London, though, he is working as part of an ensemble.

For fans, this means a brief window. Sixteen shows in a very large house, with Sting himself in the cast, and then the tour ends.
