Christopher Meloni Returns to SVU for 600th Episode Reunion

Benson and Stabler will share the screen again for the 600th episode of Law & Order: SVU.
Mariska Hargitay pointed to the reunion in two Instagram posts teasing Christopher Meloni's return as Elliot Stabler, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The posts identify Meloni as a guest for the milestone episode. It will bring Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler together on screen in season 28.
The dates are set. Season 28 of SVU premieres on Oct. 8, according to Deadline. Episode 600 is scheduled to air on Nov. 12.
That timing makes sense on the maths. SVU has aired 594 episodes to date. Episode 600 will therefore arrive as the sixth episode of the new season.
Meloni was an original star of the series. He played Stabler opposite Hargitay's Benson from 1999 to 2011. Hargitay has stayed with the programme for every season since.
Meloni later reprised the role in 2021 for Law & Order: Organized Crime, a spinoff — meaning a new series built around a character from an existing show. That series ran for five seasons. It aired for four seasons on NBC before moving to Peacock, NBC's streaming sibling, for its fifth and final season.
For fans, this means a favourite partnership back where it started. Benson and Stabler led the early years of SVU together. Fifteen years after Meloni's first departure, they meet again for a landmark count few television dramas ever reach.
