Ryan Murphy finishes Glee reboot script with original creators

Ryan Murphy has finished a script for a potential Glee reboot, co-written with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, according to Variety.
A reboot here means a new version of the same show. It is not a rerun of old episodes.
Murphy told Entertainment Tonight he had completed the script an hour before the interview. He said nobody had yet read it. Not one person.
Murphy said he had spoken to around 10 original cast members about the idea. They had many questions. They were very enthusiastic, he said.
Lea Michele is open to coming back. Murphy said she would be happy to return for a reboot.
Deadline also reported on 23 September 2026 that Murphy had just finished writing the script. Falchuk and Brennan created the original series with Murphy.
For new viewers, Glee first premiered in September 2009. The musical comedy follows a high-school glee club called New Directions.
Murphy had floated a revival before. In interviews this summer, he said he was open to bringing Glee back in a new form and that it had found a new generation of fans, according to NME.
For fans, this means the project is at script stage. A finished script does not mean a series has been ordered, meaning a broadcaster or streamer has agreed to make it.
