The North Face marks 60 years with two new Nuptse jackets

The North Face, the American outdoor clothing company, is marking 60 years with two new versions of its Nuptse jacket. The Summit Nuptse and the Pertex Reversible Nuptse lead the anniversary offer, backed by a campaign built around athletes, a DJ group and a screen actor. The Nuptse debuted in 1992 as part of the brand's Expedition System, a layering system built for extreme cold, according to WWD.
The Summit Nuptse is described by the company as the lightest and warmest Nuptse to date. It keeps the line's familiar colour-blocking, contrasting panels across the chest and arms, and adds an insulated hood. That hood is a first for the Nuptse line.
The materials tell the performance story. The shell uses recycled nylon and a targeted ultralight woven ripstop, a tear-resistant weave, reinforced with Spectra yarns, a strong synthetic fibre. The aim is warmth without weight.
The Pertex Reversible Nuptse works differently. One side is cleaner and more modern. The reverse keeps the classic quilted look. Both sides use Pertex Quantum, a light woven fabric that resists wind and repels water.
The campaign spreads wide. It features US DJ collective Las Flaquitas — Jessica Gjoza, Kaila Burke-Ozuna and Tatiana Varchola — alongside mountaineer Jim Morrison, snowboarder David Babacar Djité and rock climber Brooke Raboutou. Raboutou won silver in sport climbing at the 2024 Olympic Games. Chinese actor Yunrui Li fronts a separate regional campaign as the brand's ambassador in China.
What makes this stand out is the split brief. One jacket chases lighter expedition wear. The other offers two styles in one purchase. For buyers, the anniversary brings new kit rather than a reissue alone, made to move between mountain use and everyday street wear.
