Sula Films Joins Tatiana Huezo's Galerna as Co-Producer

Mexico's Sula Films has joined Tatiana Huezo's new feature Galerna as a co-producer, closing the deal during the San Sebastian Festival.
The pact was reached between Sula Films founder Alejandro Sugich and Pimienta Films founder Nicolás Celis at the festival, Variety reported on 24 September. Pimienta Films is also a co-producer on the film. Spain's Elastica Films had boarded the project at an earlier date.
Galerna is Huezo's second fiction feature after Prayers for the Stolen, known in Spanish as Noche de fuego. It is structured as a Mexico-Spain co-production. The story follows two casting directors travelling through remote Mexican communities, according to ScreenDaily. Ilse Salas and Lázaro Gabino Rodríguez star. Ernesto Pardo is the cinematographer.
The film was presented in San Sebastian's WIP Latam showcase, a section for works in progress, meaning unfinished films shown to industry professionals for sales, distribution and festival bookings. It was one of 10 titles selected across the festival's 2026 WIP Europa and WIP Latam showcases.
Galerna then won the Egeda Platino Industria Award at San Sebastian. The prize goes to Best WIP Latam and carries €30,000 ($34,466) for the winning film's lead producer.
