Princess of Wales shrugs off stepped-on gown at Digger premiere

The Princess of Wales smiled her way through a red-carpet snag when another guest stood on the train of her gown at the premiere of Tom Cruise's film Digger on September 22, 2026.
She kept her footing, turned with a smile and reassured the person with a calm "that's fine", according to Hello Magazine. No trip. No frown.
The moment opens Hello Magazine's updated photo compilation titled "Royal mishaps in public". The magazine describes the gallery as relatable moments in pictures ranging from stuck heels to mishaps with flowers, and it features Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton and others.
One of the best-known entries belongs to Middleton herself. While attending the St Patrick's Day Parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot in 2013, she caught a heel in a metal grate. She freed her shoe and carried on with the engagement.
Meghan Markle features too. She arrived in Tonga with Prince Harry during the 2018 royal tour of Australasia wearing a red Self-Portrait dress, a fitted high-street label known for lace dresses. Tucked inside the skirt was the return label, still attached and hanging beneath the hem for the cameras to catch.
Princess Diana's 1991 visit to Pakistan supplies two entries. She slipped on the aircraft stairs on arrival and grabbed the handrail to steady herself. Her flight had already been delayed for an hour because of a rainstorm.
The archive reaches back to Klosters, Switzerland, in 1995, when the then-Prince of Wales tumbled off his sledge during a ski break. The photographs show him in the snow, laughing as he gets up.
What makes this stand out is how familiar it feels. Red carpets are rehearsed down to the lighting cues, yet hems still get trodden on and heels still find drains. The Princess of Wales handled hers the way the others did, with a quick smile and no pause for the cameras.
