Aaron Dessner Launches Long Pond Music Label With Interscope

Aaron Dessner is launching Long Pond Music, a new record label with Interscope Records, with Hudson Ingram as its first signing. Dessner confirmed the plan in an interview published by Billboard on 24 September 2026. He discussed the label, his past ventures and his move into pop songwriting on the outlet's music business podcast On the Record.
The name is personal. Long Pond is Dessner's studio and home in the Hudson Valley of upstate New York. It is where he writes, records and produces, and it will now give the label its name.
Ingram is the opening act. Dessner described him as a frequent collaborator who has spent significant time working at the Long Pond studio. No release date or first single details were confirmed in the interview excerpts.
He has done this before. Dessner has spent about 25 years in the music industry as a member of The National. Early in that run, he co-founded the independent label Brassland to release early records from the band. An independent label is a smaller record company that operates outside the three major groups. He left Brassland after The National signed a deal with 4AD.
In 2016, Dessner and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver created 37d03d, also known as PEOPLE. It was set up as a collective and organisation for events, label services and artistic support. Label services is a model where artists keep ownership of their recordings while a company handles distribution, marketing or administration for a fee.
Long Pond the studio already has a public history. Dessner created Taylor Swift's Folklore material with her there as the long pond studio sessions during the COVID-19 lockdown. His longtime collaborator Gracie Abrams later booked a week at the studio to work on new music with him, according to a Billboard cover interview from April 2025. More recently, Brandi Carlile returned to Long Pond to co-produce four tracks with Dessner for a new version of her album, which recasts all 10 original songs in a more intimate form, according to SPIN.
The new label conversation sits alongside a video interview titled 'Aaron Dessner on Songwriting & Collaborating With Taylor Swift'. The 2026 On the Record video features Dessner in conversation with Billboard's Kristin Robinson.
What makes this stand out is continuity. For fans, this means the studio that shaped several high-profile collaborations is now the base for signing and developing other artists directly.
