Jayden James says expressing himself through music has always been his best therapy.

The 20-year-old, the youngest son of Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline, made the comment in an Interview magazine feature titled “What Does It Feel Like to Be Jayden James?” The interview was detailed by Billboard on Sept. 24.

When he needs to lift his mood, he said he turns to producing music or playing piano. It is a straightforward routine. He makes something, or he sits down to play.

He also named his most recent purchase: a Nord Stage 4 synthesiser, a stage keyboard widely used for live performance and studio work, which he said he cannot wait to make music on. The detail fits with clips his mother shared on Instagram in 2025, which showed his piano playing and rap skills.

The music talk arrived alongside a fashion first. Jayden James made his official runway debut walking for Vetements in its spring/summer 2027 menswear show during Paris Fashion Week. He walked alongside his older brother Sean Preston, 21.

Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2008. Both sons have largely stayed out of public interviews, which has given this appearance added attention.

Jayden James also addressed that scrutiny directly. He said he dislikes being asked questions based on assumptions and prefers that people get to know him, according to People. It was a short answer. It left little room for doubt.

What makes this stand out is how plainly he puts music at the centre. Not fame, not fashion, but producing and piano as a daily habit for feeling better. For readers meeting him for the first time, that is the introduction he chose himself.
