Druski says Drake's 2020 video call changed his career

Druski says Drake changed his life with a single call to appear in the 2020 video for "Laugh Now Cry Later".
The comedian said the casting legitimised his career and altered how brands viewed him. He described it as the moment everything shifted.
Speaking on The Diary of a CEO, Druski said Drake rang him directly for the shoot. After that call, brands started to take him seriously, he said. His remarks were reported by Billboard on 24 September 2026.
Druski described his part as the comedic relief. He appeared alongside Drake and rapper Lil Durk, with American football players Marshawn Lynch and Odell Beckham Jr. and basketball player Kevin Durant also featuring in the video.
That visibility changed his business. Druski said brands began to see him in a broader light as an actual star. His price went up.
It is a short chain. One call. One video. Higher fees.
Drake released "Laugh Now Cry Later" with Lil Durk in August 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The track peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the United States singles chart. It later received two Grammy nominations.
Druski has pointed to the video before. In a Billboard cover-story interview published on 9 December 2025, titled "How Comedy King Druski Is Helping Music's Biggest Stars Own the ...", he told the outlet that one shift in his career he always refers to is Drake having him in the "Laugh Now, Cry Later" video, according to Billboard.
What makes this stand out is how directly Druski links creative work to commercial terms. For viewers, this means the joke in the video also functioned as an introduction to advertisers. A comic appearance became proof he could hold a mainstream audience.
He has not framed it as luck alone. His point is that the co-sign opened doors, and the higher rate followed because companies read the casting as a signal of scale.
