The Armory Show 2026 opened in New York with steady sales.

Doors opened on Thursday, September 24. ARTnews described opening-day trade as steady in a report published that same day.

The fair held an invitation-only VIP Preview on September 24. It then runs September 24–27 at the Javits Center at 429 11th Avenue in New York, with works available to explore online until October 4, according to the Armory Show.

That is a familiar slot in the calendar. The fair has been organised in New York since 1994, and its organisers describe it as a cornerstone of the city’s cultural landscape.

This year the fair anchors an expanded Armory Week. The idea is simple: one ticketed fair at the centre, with gallery nights, studio visits and partner events around it.

The exhibitor list for the 2026 edition was released earlier in the summer. Galleries set up temporary booths inside the fair, where visitors can browse and buy.

There is also something new inside the halls. The fair is hosting Armory After Hours for the first time in 2026, an evening opening held within the fair on Friday, September 25, from 7-9 pm.

The live programme continues across the weekend. Armory Live, the fair’s talks and performance strand, is scheduled for Friday, September 25, Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27.

Another strand is Armory Spotlight. It gives a New York cultural institution a booth at the fair to support its visibility, sustainability and growth.

For first-time visitors, this means the fair works on two levels. You can go to look, or go to buy, and the evening and weekend programmes are built for people who want to stay a little longer.
