Lili Reinhart says Hollywood is 'too afraid' to make her lesbian vampire film

Lili Reinhart is trying to adapt a novella about lesbian vampires and says Hollywood is reluctant to back it.
“People are too afraid to make that,” she told Hits Radio, as reported by Deadline. She kept the title to herself.
Reinhart described the book as a short novel she hopes to realise on screen. She did not name the author. She said the project is something she is actively pushing, rather than a passing idea.
The comments came while she was promoting The Love Hypothesis, her new film for Prime Video. That film is a screen version of Ali Hazelwood’s novel, according to Deadline. Reinhart leads the cast as Olive, a PhD student, opposite Tom Bateman as Dr. Carlsen, a professor.
Reinhart also serves as an executive producer on the film, a senior credit that can cover creative and business decisions. The adaptation was directed by Claire Scanlon and written by Sarah Rothschild. Reinhart attended its premiere in New York City on 16 September 2026.
Hazelwood has voiced support for the film version of her book, according to People. That backing was reported on 22 September, ahead of the wider release conversation.
What makes this stand out is the double role. Reinhart is fronting a romance as an actor-producer while publicly campaigning for a very different kind of love story. For fans, this means two threads to watch: one film arriving now, and one passion project still looking for a yes.
