Hermanos Gutiérrez released their new studio album Los Ojos del Cóndor on Friday, Sept. 25 via Easy Eye Sound. The 10-track set translates to “the eyes of the condor.”

The duo is brothers Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez, an Ecuadorian-Swiss guitar pairing, according to Billboard. The album was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. It is the third Hermanos Gutiérrez studio album he has produced.

The run started with their 2022 project El Bueno y El Malo. It continued with their 2024 LP Sonido Cósmico. That record reached the Billboard 200, the main US albums chart.

Family history sits at the centre of the new record. A 1987 photograph of the brothers’ father standing at Machu Picchu inspired the album. Estevan played every track on the nylon-string guitar his father gave him when he was 8.

Alejandro plays the charango on several songs. The charango is a small Andean stringed instrument with a bright, high sound. The brothers recorded the album at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studios in Nashville, the label confirmed in its album announcement.

The release is their seventh album overall, according to Flood Magazine. Pre-orders were offered through Easy Eye Sound. The title track was put out for streaming in July ahead of the full album. The group also released the song “Los Andes” in August.

A video for “Alma Mia” arrived alongside the album. It includes scenes of the brothers recording at Easy Eye Sound in Nashville. It was created and animated by Robert Schober, with colourful cut-out style sequences mixed with studio footage.

What makes this stand out for listeners is how little the format has changed. Two guitars lead. The production stays close. The story starts with a family photograph and ends with the same instruments in the room.
